Great racing this past weekend! Some cooler weather has finally arrived and that always makes racing fun!

The cool air was of particular help to Tali Toncray and Brandon Welling. Tali and Brandon ran the Black Canyon 100K race and had great times over the challenging course. Tali finished in 15 hours and Brandon finished in 13:52. Tali will be taking on her fist 100 Miler later this spring in Zion!

At the Desert Duathlon, Cheryl Stadlman and Joan McGue had solid races. Cheryl finished 11 min faster than her time last year while Joan finished in 1:44!

At the Lost Dutchman Marathon, Peter Lofquist finished the hilly course in 4:44 and took 12th in his AG!

Good luck to everyone racing the Phoenix Marathon races this weekend. The lows are supposed to be in the upper 30s. This is absolutely perfect marathon weather!

Hilton Head (SC) Marathon

Congratulations to longtime Camelback Coaching athlete, Frank Smith, who ran the Hilton Head (SC) Marathon this past weekend. On a hot day, Frank finished in 5:23. More importantly, Frank kept his monthly marathon streak alive. He has now finished a marathon or longer in each month for the past 5 years and 5 months! This marathon was also his 120th marathon or ultra that he has completed! Frank is racing Ironman Chattanooga later this year as well as many more marathons!

Looks like great racing weather for this weekend’s Desert Duathlon! Good luck everyone!

Mike Haenel – crusin’ the Beeline . . .

Congratulations to our five intrepid finishers from this year’s Ironman Arizona! The day was a hot one with no clouds in the sky and the wind on the Beeline Hwy was as strong as ever! We would especially like to recognize Russell Vanbeber who raced IMAZ one year after having serious knee surgery. It was a long journey but he went from a hospital bed to an IM in 12 months.
